To provide a method for detecting wiring failure points of a wiring film of a liquid crystal/plasma display screen or the like and an apparatus therefor.
A probe pin 6 is moved above a terminal connected to a wiring film of a liquid crystal display screen. The probe pin 6 is brought in contact with the terminal to supply a predetermined voltage. At the same time, an electromagnetic sensor 7 is moved in parallel to the probe pin 6. The disconnected wiring film is detected by a change of detection signals of the electromagnetic sensor 7. A position of the electromagnetic sensor 7 at the time is stored as position information. Then, the electromagnetic sensor 7 is returned to above the disconnected wiring film, and further moved along the wiring film, whereby a failure point due to the disconnection is detected from the change of detection signals of the electromagnetic sensor 7. A position of the electromagnetic sensor 7 at the time is stored as the failure point because of the disconnection. Since any failure point because of the disconnection present in the wiring film is stored as the position of the electromagnetic sensor 7, a repair position of the liquid crystal display screen can be recognized or the like advantage is obtained.
