To provide a method which solves a problem that the performance of a demodulator included in a receiver of a WTRU is not understood clearly in the case that the measurement of a SIR is executed prior to demodulation, that the SIR measurement provided or led by a channel estimating process is included in an example of such a situation as this, and that a logic existing in the bottom of the SIR measurement based on channel estimation shows that a high-quality channel is always in a high-quality receiving state but the logic is not kept always and really.
A signal modulated from a node B through a communication channel is received, the channel estimation is executed with regard to the modulated signal, and an estimation value of a channel is provided. In one embodiment, a demodulated signal obtained by demodulating the modulated signal based on the channel estimation value is provided, and a signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) estimation value based on the demodulated signal is calculated. The quality of the communication channel is estimated based on at least the SIR estimation value.
