To simply and accurately position a module within the hollow space of a tool and to keep positioning during a tool closing process and at the time of a succeeding injection process.
This method and apparatus are used in order to form a smart card. The flat side of the smart card is formed from a film, pref., a label 10. The label 10, chips 9 and module 13 having a carrier and a contact plate 5 are attached to the upper sides of the hollow spaces 23, 24 of a plastic injection molding tool 20 and a plastic material is subsequently injected and filed into the remaining hollow spaces. In this case, the module 13 occupies a predetermined position within the hollow spaces 23, 24. The module 13 is fixed to the label 10 at a predetermined position before inserted into the hollow spaces 23, 24 and inserted in the hollow spaces 23, 24 along with the label 10.
