Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method of hybrid FDM (frequency division multiplexing)-CDM (code division multiplexing) structure for single carrier control channels.SOLUTION: A transmitter receives at 502 a signal to be transmitted, and modulates at 504 the received signal with hybrid FDM-CDM so that each user can occupy the entire bandwidth available. Then, CDM multiplexing at 506 is performed in the time domain with a spreading code so as to maintain orthogonality of pilots of users in different (neighboring) cells and create multiple reference signals across entire cells; and the multiplexed signal is transmitted at 508.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
