Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly judge a collision of a side face and/or a front, rear face of a vehicle by subtracting a movement-caused acceleration from a synthesized acceleration thereby detecting a deformation-caused acceleration, and totaling judgment results of the deformation-caused acceleration and movement-caused acceleration to threshold values.
SOLUTION: At a vehicle side face sensor 1sL, 1sR, an acceleration caused by a deformation of a side face of a vehicle and an acceleration caused by a lateral movement of the vehicle are synthesized thereby detecting a synthesized acceleration. Only the movement-caused acceleration is detected in a vehicle central unit 1c. The movement-caused acceleration is subtracted from the synthesized acceleration at a differentiator 21 in the vehicle central unit 1c, whereby the deformation-caused acceleration is detected. The deformation- caused acceleration and movement-caused acceleration are respectively integrated per segment and, each integrated value of the segment is judged with respect to a threshold value. Results of the judgments are summed up, whereby a collision of the left side face or right side face is detected from an OR gate 28, 29.
