To provide a color filter manufacturing method and a color filter manufacturing apparatus capable of efficiently correcting a defect equal to or exceeding a prescribed size.

The color filter manufacturing method comprises: a white defect detecting process of detecting a white defect existing in a color layer; a correction color layer forming process of applying a color layer forming coating liquid for forming a color layer on an area including at least the white defect detected at the white defect detecting process, and forming a correction color layer; and a correcting process of irradiating the correction color layer formed in an area functioning as an opening part for the pattern of the color layer in the correction color layer formed at the correction color layer forming process with laser light, then, removing and correcting the color layer. The correcting process is a process of removing the correction color layer formed in a plurality of opening parts at a stretch by pattern irradiation with the laser light and correcting the color layer.
