PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To certainly detect the flaw in a rolling material during a rolling process.
SOLUTION: An ultrasonic inspection head 5 is arranged outside or inside at least one roll among a plurality of rolls 3a, 3b, 3c participated in rolling and, before ultrasonic waves collide with a rolling material desired to be inspected, the roll body or the part in the vicinity of the peripheral surface of the roll forms a pre-running section for ultrasonic waves and the ultrasonic inspection head 5 is formed as a transmitter and/or a receiver and the direction of the ultrasonic inspection head 5 is set so that ultrasonic waves collide with the surface of the rolling material at a place where the surface of the rolling material has the closest contact with the roll.
