PURPOSE: To prevent the damage of a tundish nozzle and to decrease the temp. drop of a molten metal by supplying the molten metal into a casting mold space from the side face near the arc-shaped part of the roll on the upper stream side among the rolls for moving connected casting block molds.
CONSTITUTION: Tundishes 9, 9 are disposed to the side face near driving rolls 4 for moving the block molds 6 and the tundish nozzle 10 is integrally mounted thereto. The nozzle 10 is so shaped that the nozzle is bent 90° when inserted between the upper and lower molds 6 and 6 from the side and that the top end thereof arrives at the part where the molds 6 in the mold space 7 contact tightly with each other. The passage distance of the molten metal from the molten metal surface of the tundish 9 to the meniscus 11 is thus reduced; at the same time, the length of the nozzle 10 to be inserted into the space 7 is reduced. The temp. drop of the molten metal is thereby decreased and the damage of the tundish nozzle is averted.
