PURPOSE: To produce any form of an object by applying synergistic energy such as a spot of UV light or the like to a working surface of a fluid medium to form thin, solid, individual layers on the surface.
CONSTITUTION: Energy is applied as a graphic pattern to a selected surface of a fluid medium to form thin, solid, individual layers. It is desirable to make each layer as thin as possible in order to maximize resolution, gain the accurate reproduction of a three-dimensional object being formed, and then shorten the production time. It is constructed that an infinite number of laminae are provided and each lamina has a cured depth (equal to or less than 1 mm) of only slightly more than zero thickness. Such thin layers result in the improved precision of the object.
