PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for authenticating equipment for processing a biological sample or reagent.SOLUTION: A method includes, in a system 100, steps of: generating a PIN code by equipment 102; inputting the PIN code and identification data related to the equipment 102 to a database 112 of an electronic device 104; verifying the PIN code and the identification data in the electronic device 104; transmitting an authentication certificate to the equipment 102 when the PIN code and the identification data correspond to object data stored in the database 112; registering the equipment 102 in the electronic device 104 by installing the authentication certificate in the equipment 102; and using the authentication certificate for encrypted communication between the equipment 102 and the electronic device 104.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
