Abstract:

PURPOSE: To make the hardness of a carburized member, especially its screw part proper after heat treatment by heating the member once at high output of a temp. required to carry out high frequency tempering, and heating it at low output.

CONSTITUTION: A carburized member 1 to be treated is put in the heating coil 2 of a high frequency tempering apparatus, and high frequency current is supplied to the coil 2 to heat chiefly the part 3 of the member 1 to be treated. At this time, the member 1 is heated at high output to a temp. required to carry out high frequency tempering, that is, 600°CW the transformation point, and it is heated at low output. By the two-step heating the member 1 is held at said temp. for a sufficient time.
