Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a casting method of a piston, by which further improvements of the restraint of thermal expansion and thermal shrinkage in a piston head and the restraint of deformation caused by pressure variation can be realized.
CONSTITUTION: The molten metal JIS A-390 is dipped in fiber accumulated bodies and primary crystal silicon 6 is filtered. The high concn. primary crystal silicons 6 are agglomerated at the fiber accumulated bodies side of the center range of the piston head to form a rich layer 8, and according as leaving from the fiber accumulated bodies, a poor layer 9 having lower concn. of the primary crystal silicon 6 is formed. In the center range of thepiston head, an FRM consisting of a matrix composed of A-390 and alumina short fibers dispersed in this matrix is constituted.
