To provide a connecting method capable of enhancing the strength of adhesion between a coated optical fiber and a connecting object.
When the connecting work of the coated optical fiber 4 formed with a secondary coating which is the outermost layer coating and consists of a flame-retardant resin compsn. consisting of a thermoplastic polyester elastomer as a chief material and a ferrule 5 for a connector is going to be carried out, the outside surface 121 of the secondary coating of the coated optical fiber is subjected to a surface treatment by irradiation with UV rays after the production of the coated optical fiber or before the connecting work to the ferrule. The outside surface of the secondary coating and the inside surface of the large-diameter hole part 51 of the ferrule are thereafter adhered via an epoxy adhesive and the adhesive is cured, by which the connecting work is carried out.
