PURPOSE: To cast a clad cast billet of a stock for seamless clad steel tube at high speed and in long length.
CONSTITUTION: While inserting a mandrel 3 into a mold 2 opening both ends, molten steel is poured around the mandrel, and while continuously solidifying the molten steel 4, a solidified shell 8 integrated with the mandrel 3 is drawn down from the mold 2. At the time of using TSM for a temp., which solid phase of the molten steel becomes 70%, TBT for a brittle transition temp. of the mandrel and RM for a cross sectional area ratio of the core material and the molten steel in the solidifying condition at this time, these are regulated by the following inequalities and equations. f(TSM)<RM<f(TBT), f(T)=4.36-0.00030×T, T≤1450°C f(T)=0.242-0.00016×T, T>1450°C. Wherein, f(TSM) and f(TBT) are followed in the equations.
