Title:
METHOD FOR CONTROLLING MOTION OF ACTUATOR ARM ASSEMBLY OF DISK DRIVING MECHANISM AND DEVICE THEREFOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3263954
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To shorten a seek time by a magnetic disk driving mechanism by shortening a time required for moving a magnetic converter fixed to an actuator arm from a certain position on a disk to another position.
CONSTITUTION: An X2 axis shown in a figure indicates a speed, X1 axis indicates a distance until a magnetic converter or a head reaches a target track, curve 80 indicates the profile of a continuously decreasing typical preservation system speed, curve 88 indicates a typical seek profile by a conventional technique, and curve 89 indicating a position separated from the curve 80, indicates the profile of the preservation system speed in this method for maintaining as much seek time as possible in a saturation mode. The saturation mode is the maximum amounts of main currents which can be transmitted to the voice coil of an actuator assembly, and controlled by a transistor. Saturation currents accompanied with the acceleration of the assembly are transmitted to the voice coil in the beginning of the seek, and the sufficient main currents are held even after they pass a cross point indicated by the curve 86 in this method.
