Abstract:

To provide a method of controlling the temperature of a carbonized material by water cooling, and a cooling system, in which the flow rate of cooling water sprayed on the carbonized material is properly controlled, so that the ignition of the carbonized material during the storage can surely be prevented and water content of the carbonized material can be suppressed to minimum.

The system for cooling the carbonized material by cooling the carbonized material 10 discharged from a carbonization furnace 1 while transporting on a water cooling conveyer 2 and directly spraying cooling water from a water spray nozzle 4 is provided with a flow rate control valve 32 for controlling the flow rate of the cooling water from the water spray nozzle 4, a weight measuring means 33 for measuring the weight of the carbonized material, a temperature measuring means 35 for measuring the temperature of the carbonized material in the downstream end side of the water cooling conveyer and a controller 6 for controlling the flow rate control valve 32 by calculating the flow rate of the cooling water for cooling the carbonized material up to a temperature equal to or below aimed temperature lower than the ignition temperature based on the carbonized material temperature measured by the temperature measuring means 35 and the carbonized material flow rate determined from the weight of the carbonized material which is measured by the weight measuring means 33.
