Title:
METHOD OF CONVERSION OF ORGANIC HYDROPEROXIDE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2003160572
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a method in which unreacted cumene hydroperoxide is converted by contacting with a manganese-containing catalyst in the production of propylene oxide and cumyl alcohol from cumene hydroperoxide and propylene.

In the production method of the propylene oxide and cumyl alcohol from cumene hydroperoxide and propylene, the method for converting an organic hydroperoxide comprises contacting cumene hydroperoxide, which is not yet converted, with the manganese-containing catalyst. Preferably, an oxidation process, epoxidation process, propylene oxide recovering process and hydrogenolysis process are included, and the catalyst containing manganese oxide is used as the manganese-containing catalyst.
