PURPOSE: To obtain a recording and reproduction method which enables identification of the recording start positions of respective still images in the case of continuously recording a plurality of still images.

CONSTITUTION: A subcode including searching ID of still image information and a still image information are recorded in the inclined tracks on a tape. On the occasion of continuously recording a plurality of still image information and searching ID, a reset signal is then recorded for the predetermined section L2 between respective searching IDs. Thereby, the recording start positions of still images can be identified, realizing searching function of the still images.
