PURPOSE: To minimize the idle time of a high-speed bus by transferring data between two busses, which have different speeds and are independently operated, through an interface device by a method dependent upon the data transfer direction.
CONSTITUTION: The time when a device of a low-speed bus 18 requests the access to a high-speed bus 13 is determined, and the busy state of the high speed bus 13 is discriminated, and the low-speed bus 18 is set to the waiting state when the high-speed bus 13 is busy, and the access is performed to transfer data to the high-speed bus 13 at a relatively high speed when the high-speed bus 13 is not busy. Thus, two busses 13 and 18 are allowed to be operated at different bus operation speeds independently of each other, and the time when the high-speed bus 13 is kept in the idle state is minimized.
