Title:
METHOD FOR DETECTING REACTION PROGRESS BY USING INFRARED RAY SPECTROSCOPE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5639446
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To continuously monitor reaction progress by passing part of a reaction liquid continuously through analysis sample distribution type cell and by determining specific atomic group in the reaction liquid.

CONSTITUTION: A portion of a reaction liquid is introduced into sample passing through type cell A installed on the infrared ray spectroscope 3 by means of the constant volume pump 15 through a withdrawing pipe 14 for a reaction liquid to be analyzed installed on the reaction vessel 13. Then, it is returned to the reaction vessel 13 through the return pipe 16. The absorption extent of specifc atomic group in reaction liquid, passing through the cell A at a constant speed, is measured by the spectroscope 3 on a time basis to monitor the progress of reaction. For instance, in the case of production of polyester with dibasic acid and ethylene glycol, it is possible to know the progress of chemical reaction of ester by obtaining acid value of reaction liquid through measurement of the absorbancy at 2530cm-1 wavelength in relation to -COOH group.
