PURPOSE: To measure the strength of wire binding and the strength at the bound part of sheets of paper before a book binding process by binding the paper bound part such as a section for book binding to a fixed plate by a wire binding means, and then clamping the paper except at the bound part and measuring the tensile strength.
CONSTITUTION: The bound part equivalent part 1a of paper 1 such as the section for book binding is mounted on a wire binding plate 2, a binding wire is implanted in the bound part from above, and the section paper 1 is bound together with the binding plate 2. Then the paper 1 is clamped except at the bound part, e.g. at one or both small opening sides 3 in a clamping part 4 for a tension test while the binding plate 2 is fixed. The side of the clamping part 4 is separated gradually from the binding plate 2 to draw the paper and the binding strength is measured digitally on the scale of a measuring meter 5 coupled with the clamping part 4 when the paper bound part 1a is broken by the binding plate.
