PURPOSE: To make the quality of rolled products from strands high and uniform in the case of performing ≥2 strands of rolling with continuous rolling mills by controlling the tension upon the materials to be rolled between stands automatically to desired values.
CONSTITUTION: In the stage of subjecting 2 or 4 pieces of wire rods to 2-strand or 4-strand rolling with ≥2 stands of continuous rolling mills, the wire rods between the stands are controlled to intended tension in the 2 or 4 strands, whereby the wire rods are rolled. The roll speeds, rolling torques and rolling loads of the respective stands of the continuous rolling mills are detected, and in accordance with the detected outputs in the stage of one strand rolling, the 1st load distribution is generated with the 1st liquidating means and the 1st load distribution as the output thereof is stored. Thereafter, the 2nd load distribution is generated with the 2nd liquidating means in accordance with the detected output in the stage of multiple strand rolling, and both load distributions are compared, then correction signals are generated with comparing means. In accordance with said signals, at least one of roll speeds and roll gaps are controlled automatically.
