Abstract:
PURPOSE: To decide the ground color of a number plate with considerable accuracy despite the deterioration of the luminous intensity conditions.
CONSTITUTION: A number plate where a number sign of a different color from the ground color is applied is fetched onto the input screen of a camera. A histogram detecting part 20 detects the density histogram of the number plate included in the input screen. A centroid detecting part 30 calculates the centroid density of an entire area, the centroid density of a low density area, and the centroid density of a high density area from the density histogram detected by the part 20. Then an inspecting pert 40 decides the ground color based on the relation of the centroid density among those areas.
