Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide the motion detection device which can detect the motion quantity of an image with high precision when detecting the motion quantity by a hierarchical block matching method.
CONSTITUTION: Image data S2n and S3n of plural layers which are different in resolution are generated from the input image S1n which is inputted at a lst point of time, image data S2n-1 and S3n-1 of multiplied high layers with low resolution are generated by selecting pixels from image data of low layers with high resolution on the basis of an input image S1m-1 inputted at a 2nd point of time and reducing them, and the hierarchical image data S2n and S3n are multiplied to detect the motion vector by the block matching in specific block units by the layers corresponding to the hierarchical image data S2n-1 and S3n-1, thereby obtaining the motion quantity detection device 1 which can greatly improve the detection precision of the motion quantity.
