To provide a method and a device of editing embroidery data with which alteration of operational order and confirmation of stitching sequence are easily carried out without changing displayed windows in an operation to set up stitching sequences of stitching areas when editing embroidery data.
All the stitching areas are shown by gray hatching on the screen of a display. When a area, for instance, corresponding to the second color thread is selected the stitching area is displayed by a color of the thread, and at the time, the area is set up as the presently selected stitching area. Then, if a button 'To First' was pushed on, the presently selected stitching area is set up as an area to be stitched first, and those areas which had been having younger stitching sequences than the one selected are each set one behind consequently.
