PURPOSE: To provide a method and a device for grinding an inside groove on a containerlike workpiece of arc-shaped cross section and a ball groove on the inside of the ball retainer of a synchronous joint or the like, by ejecting grinding liquid toward the front end side and peripheral surface of a spherical grindstone.
CONSTITUTION: A grinding liquid passage 12 is provided in a cutting holder 6 placed along a grinding head 1. Grinding liquid of high pressure is supplied to the passage 12 so that the liquid is ejected under high pressure from nozzles 9, 10, 11. The grinding liquid ejected under high pressure from the nozzle 9 proceeds along the lower edge of a grindstone part 4c, the bottom of a grindstone and the groove W2 of a workpiece. The grinding liquid from the nozzle 10 acts to discharge chips on the peripheral surface of the grindstone part 4c. The grinding liquid from the nozzle 11 proceeds to the lower section of the grindstone part 4c to cool the grindstone and the workpiece.
