PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for the hot rolling of a wire rod by which the slender wire with a diameter of 5.5mm or below can be manufactured with a high efficiency and high quantity.
SOLUTION: The hot rolling equipment 1 is constituted including the following conditions. Scale removing device 4: This is provided in the middle of the transfer path of a material to be rolled, and a scale layer formed on the surface of a material A1 to be rolled, which is transferred, is continuously removed. heating device 5: To the material A1 to be rolled, from which the scale layer is removed, while the transfer of the material A1 to be rolled is permitted, this device comes into contact with the material A1 to be rolled, and is equipped with electrodes 51 to 54 energizing and heating the material to be rolled. Rolling mill 6: This rolling mill is equipped with first paired rolls and second paired rolls compressing the material A1 to be rolled from different directions each other. When supporting that a distance between the centers of the first paired rolls and the second paired rolls is L and the diameter of a wire derived from the second paired rolls is D, this rolling mill is set so that the value of L/D is 30 or below. And, the material A1 to be rolled is successively rolled, making the first paired rolls an introducing side and the second paired rolls a deriving side.
