Abstract:

To provide a method and a device for measuring temperature by using a total area air/fuel ratio sensor by which the temperature of exhaust gas can be measured accurately.

A cell 10 is heated by a heater 70 up to a temperature in which the oxygen concentration can be measured, and when the cell 10 is heated by exhaust gas at the target temperature or higher, the temperature of exhaust gas is measured according to the resistance value of an electromotive force cell 24. At this time, since the resistance value of the cell 24 which is placed between a space 20 kept in a constant atmosphere and an oxygen reference chamber 26 with constant oxygen concentration, the resistance value can be measured accurately independent of the oxygen concentration in the atmosphere to be measured. Further, since the cell is heated by a heater and a temperature exceeding the target temperature is measured, high response can be established.
