To provide a suitable method for separating an as cast casting composed of the sprue and the products formed at both sides thereof into a product and a spue in, and its device.

This sprue and product separating device is constituted of a downward actuator capable of elevating/lowering two wedge members 12, provided with a hydraulic cylinder 1, one pair of claws 5 for expanding the space between the products, pivotally supported with connecting pins 4 to brackets 3 having elliptic holes 2 fitted to the lower part of the actuator and oppositely hung, a pair of claws 8 for holding the sprue, pivotally supported with connecting pins 7 to the lower part of the hydraulic cylinder and disposed at the inside of the claws for expanding the space between the products and the wedge members 12 hung at the lower part of a piston rod 1a hung between both pairs of claws. The separation is performed by lowering this device on the as cast and advancing both claws to the sprue 22. Then, the claws for holding the sprue holds a projection 24 projected in a runner 23 of the sprue, and the hydraulic piston is extended to lower the wedge member and the sprue and the product are separated by expanding the claws for expanding the space between the products.
