Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of evaluating the efficacy of a component having whitening effect, in which an epidermis equivalent is used so that in vitro evaluation is performed that enables determination by visual observation using a pigmentation caused by ultraviolet radiation as a barometer in the same manner as in vivo evaluation.SOLUTION: The efficacy of a component having whitening effect can be evaluated using a pigmentation and melanin production enhancement as a barometer, by irradiating with ultraviolet rays a reconstructed epidermis, used as an epidermis equivalent, comprising a melanocyte and a keratinocyte as main components.
