To provide a method for forming a projecting shaft in an electronic storage device, the method that enables cracks or fractures less liable to occur in the projecting shaft which is formed integrally with a base and that enables the effective length of the projecting shaft to be expanded.
On the base of the electronic storage device, there is formed a projecting shaft whose distal end is plugged. The base 1 is placed on a die 4 formed with a hole 4a having a prescribed inner diameter, and is pressurized by a press tool 8 from one direction. This moves a portion of the base into the hole of the die, thereby integrally and projectingly forming the projecting shaft. In the hole 4a of the die 4, a compressing member 5 is arranged that presses the base in the direction opposite from the pressurizing direction of the press tool 8, and the compressing member compresses the distal end of the projecting shaft 2 to be formed by the press tool 8.
