Abstract:

PURPOSE: To accelerate the absorption of heat in molten Al in an aluminum reverberatory furnace by floating a specified powder on the surface of the molten Al.

CONSTITUTION: Powder having no reactivity with molten Al, lower specific gravity than molten Al, ≥1,400°C refractoriness, and higher emissivity than the surface of molten Al is charged into a reverberatory furnace for melting Al and/or an Al alloy when starting material is charged or molten Al is stored. The powder is floated on the surface of molten Al, and the heating efficiency is improved. Powder of graphite, SiC or the like is used as said powder.
