Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve the multiplication of irregular input spike sequences in the Leaky-integrate-and-fire(LIF) model of neuron by using the strength of synapse coupling depending on preceding spike arrival time.
CONSTITUTION: The LIF model of neuron (i) is provided with a capacitor C to be charged by the input spike and to be discharged by a leak resistor R. The input spike is a current pulse and the amplitude is called a synapse load, namely, synapse coupling strength. Then, prescribed arithmetic is performed so that the potential of the capacitor C can be a constant at the time of completing the input spike, and the synapse load is calculated. When delay between the two spikes is smaller than an average value, for example, the synapse load is decreased. Thus, the influence of a high background potential caused by the input spike to arrive with the inter-spike delay smaller than the average can be compensated.
