To provide a method and an apparatus for correctly and precisely depositing a solvent-free functional material to image receivers at high speed, and also to provide a method for controlling a deposition depth of the functional material.
The apparatus 10 for supplying the functional material to image receivers includes a formulation tank 12 for a solvent in a thermodynamically stable mixture with the functional material. The solvent is in a liquid state in the formulation tank 12. A discharge device 13 having an inlet and an outlet is connected to the formulation tank 12 at the inlet position, so that the thermodynamically stable mixture is ejected from the outlet. The image receiver 14 having a back 50 is positioned at a predetermined distance from the outlet of the discharge device 13. The solvent in the thermodynamically stable mixture evaporates at a predetermined position beyond the outlet of the discharge device 13, and a predetermined amount of the functional material contacts the image receiver at a position spaced by a predetermined distance from the back 50 of the image receiver 14.
