Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide the machining method which easily manufacture the optical fiber drawing component with low loss by removing a factor which makes a monitored output waveform unstable at the time of the manufacture of the optical fiber drawing component.
CONSTITUTION: For the machining method for the optical fiber drawing component which draws plural optical fibers by welding parts of them, the optical fibers are gripped on a couple of driving stages 2 and 2 by optical fiber pressers 3 and 3 with friction of about 100g., parts of the optical fibers are heated halfway between the couple of driving stages 2 and 2 for welding and drawing, and the driving stages 2 and 2 are moved in the drawing direction of the optical fibers. Consequently, the optical fibers slide at the gripping parts corresponding to the extent of the softening of the optical fibers and the optical fibers are drawn slower than the speed of the driving stages 2 and 2, so that the optical fibers are drawn with constant tension at all times.
