Title:
METHOD OF MANUFACTURING ALKALINE BATTERY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2012156002
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a method of manufacturing alkaline battery that can suppress a negative electrode filled in a separator from overflowing from the separator because the lower end of the cylindrical portion of the separator is broken and bent inwards when the negative electrode is filled into the separator.

A method of manufacturing an alkaline battery comprises a step (1) of forming a hollow cylindrical positive electrode 2 coming into close contact with the inner surface of a battery case 1, a step (2) of inserting into the hollow portion of the positive electrode a cylindrical separator having a bottom which has a cylindrically wound cylinder portion and a bottom portion having a substantially U-shaped section which covers an opening at the lower end of the cylinder portion and has a rising portion extending along the outer surface of a lower portion of the cylinder portion, a step (3) of injecting electrolytic liquid into the separator, and a step (4) of filling a negative electrode in the separator. The amount of the electrolytic liquid in the step (3) is so enough that the electrolytic liquid is impregnated in the positive electrode and the separator and remains at the lower portion of the separator so that the lower end of the cylinder portion of the separator is immersed with the electrolytic liquid and the electrolytic liquid is brought into contact with the rising portion of the bottom portion.
