To provide a method for manufacturing alkaline manganese battery which realizes increase of absorption amount of alkaline electrolytic liquid and improvement of productivity, while effectively preventing scattering of the alkaline electrolytic liquid and occurrence of leakage.
The method for manufacturing the alkaline manganese battery includes a filling process in which, after inserting a plurality of pieces of cylindrical positive electrode mixtures 2A, 2B in a battery case 1, alkaline electrolytic liquid 7 is filled inside the cylindrical separator 4, a natural absorption process 28 in which the battery case filled with the alkaline electrolytic liquid 7 is left standing for a prescribed time, and a reduced-pressure absorption process 29 in which, after the gap d between a top plate 23a of a chamber 23 and the opening end of the battery case 1 is established at 1/3 or more and 2/3 or less of the diameter D of the battery case 1, and the battery case 1 is contained in the chamber 23 of sealed state, the inside of the chamber 23 is reduced to a prescribed vacuum degree and then is opened to atmosphere, and the alkaline electrolytic liquid 7 is absorbed in the positive electrode mixtures 2A, 2B through the cylindrical separator 4 by a reduced-pressure absorption method.
