Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a case member capable of displaying fine patterns and letters on the surface of the outer case of a time piece by properly using several kinds of surface processings. SOLUTION: On the surface of island-like plating layer 23a and outer case 10, honing process is applied to roughen the surface. After completing the honing process, the island-like plating layer 23a is removed with an etching liquid and the surface of a gold ornament layer 21 is exposed. In this manner, the mirror surface of the gold ornament layer 22a on the outer case 10 is maintained and the surface of the outer case 10 where no gold ornament layer 22a covers the surface is rough. Thus, fine patterns and icons can be displayed along the pattern of the island-like plating layer 23a.
