Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a cylinder block capable of surely setting a preform at a proper position inside a metallic die, and preventing cracks due to deformation of the preform at the time of casting, and a preform for a cylinder block bearing part used in the manufacturing method.
SOLUTION: Through-holes 1a, 1a penetrating flat parts are formed to flat parts 10A, 20A forming both ends of a preform 1 for a cylinder block bearing part. The through-hole 1a is formed in two combined tapered shapes with two truncated cones having a common top bottom. In this method for manufacturing the cylinder block, a preform manufacturing step is performed for manufacturing the preform 1 with the through-holes 1a, 1a formed. Pins 53, 54 in the metallic die are inserted in the through-holes 1a, so perform a preform holding step for holding the preform 1 in the metallic die. A casting step of a bearing part is performed for casting molten aluminum alloy to the preform 1.
