Abstract:

To provide a method for manufacturing an emulsion polymerized toner for a color copying machine excellent in environmental and temporal stabilities of chargeability and giving an image of high image quality.

In the method for manufacturing the emulsion polymerized aggregation fusion toner, a resin fine particle dispersion prepared by emulsion-polymerizing a styrenic monomer, an acrylic ester (or a methacrylic ester) and acrylic acid (or methacrylic acid) with an alicyclic compound having an acidic group as an emulsifier, a colorant dispersion prepared from a colorant, an aqueous solution of an amino-group-containing silane coupling agent, an aqueous solution of a polyacetal resin, an aqueous solution of "Attack (R)" which is a kind of synthetic detergent and a dilute aqueous alkali solution, a release agent particle dispersion prepared from a polyethylene wax (or a paraffin wax), a charge control agent, an antioxidant, an aqueous solution of an amino-group-containing silane coupling agent, an aqueous solution of "Attack (R)" and a dilute aqueous alkali solution, and a dilute aqueous alkali solution are mixed and neutralized to prepare an aggregated particle dispersion, this dispersion is heated to a glass transition temperature of the resin or above to fuse aggregated particles, filtration and washing are carried out, and the binder resin is crosslinked in a drying step with the amino-group-containing silane coupling agent remaining in the resulting toner.
