Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that there is a metal ceramic composite material obtained by impregnating a porous perform made of ceramic with metal as a heat sink plate used for a conventional power module, and to impregnate the preform with the metal, it is necessary to pressurize the preform and hence a manufacturing apparatus becomes large as a defect. SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing the metal-ceramic composite material comprises steps of mixing silicon carbide powder with silver powder, pressurizing the mixture to form the preform, contacting the preform with aluminum, heating the preform and the aluminum, and impregnating the preform with the aluminum. In this method, the metal includes magnesium, zinc, gallium, lead or tin. The impregnating ratio of the magnesium into the preform is 2 to 10 wt.%.
