To provide a method of manufacturing a tailored blank material for making a gap between two butted and joined blank materials over a weld line direction uniform and capable of securing weld precision and quality even when a weld line is curved.
The method of manufacturing the tailored blank material previously prepares the two blank materials P11, P12 in expectation of reserves for cutting of cut end materials S1, S2, and simultaneously cuts the blank materials P11, P12 by taking a part corresponding to a butt part as a cutting line 8 while being overlapped so that they are mutually overlapped on only the reserves for cutting of the cut end materials S1, S2 on both sides of the butt part in welding. Cut ends 3, 4 corresponding to the cutting lines 8 of respective plate materials P1, P2 after cutting excluding the cut end materials S1, S2 are butted and laser welding is applied to the butt parts as the welding line.
