To easily and securely match surfaces without confirming the surface matching.
Against the end surface of one optical component 11 which is fixed, the end surface of the other optical component 49 is pressed, but the optical component 49 is supported by a component holding body 43 so that it can slant, so the tilt can easily be changed so as to match the end surfaces of both the optical components. The tilt is changed by moving the optical component 49 pressed against the optical component 11 by a specific quantity at right angles to a Z axis as the pressing direction. In this case, a table showing the relation between pressure values of a pressure sensor 51 and Z-axial movement quantities is stored as data and then a Z-axial movement quantity can easily be obtained from the table. Further, the value at which a point which comes into contact first when the end surface is pressed begins to slip by the movement of the optical component is regarded as the pressing force.
