Title:
METHOD FOR MELTING ASBESTOS WASTE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3120308
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To simplify the pretreatment of an asbestos waste and thereby make it easy to melt the waste and treat the molten asbestos by adding a CaF2 source to the asbestos waste as a main material and dissolving/solidifying a molten material at a specific ratio of CaF2 to obtain a vitreous matter.
CONSTITUTION: When treating a asbestos waste, it is dissolved by adding CaF2 source to SiO-MgO-CaO which is a main component contained in the waste as a main material. In this case, the viscosity of the molten matter is decreased, then an area where a melting point reaches a lowest value is specified, and the electroconductivity of the molten waste is improved so that it is melted by an electric resistance thermal method which generates less dust and smoke during the time of melting. In addition, the ratio of CaF2 which is a melting component for facilitating the vitrification of the waste during solidification is specified as 5 to 15%. The outer melting components are 40 to 60% of SiO2, 10 to 20% of CaO, 10 to 20% of MgO and 5 to 15% of Na2. Thus it is possible to control the melting point and viscosity of the molten matter appropriately.
