Title:
METHOD FOR MELTING AND CASTING NOBLE METAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS63215364
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve the productivity and yield of a material and to reduce the cost of casting by casting the melt of a noble metal with inclination at a specific angle.

CONSTITUTION: A casting mold 1 is disposed with the inclination at 10W30° with perpendicular and the melt of the noble metal is poured therein by which an ingot 2 is cast. Since the mold 1 inclines, a shrinkage cavity 3 of the ingot 2 is generated by having the inclination from the longitudinal direction. The part of the shrinkage cavity 3 to be remelted or recovered and refined is, therefore, reduced by cutting the ingot 2 on the plane orthogonal with the longitudinal direction thereof at the bottom end of the slope of the ingot 2. The productivity and yield of the material are thereby improved and the cost of casting is reduced.
