PURPOSE: To obtain critical temp. range improving distributing ratio of zinc into slag and keeping fluidity of the slag at the time of fused-desulfurizing a zinc sulfide concentrate.
CONSTITUTION: In operating method of fused desulfurizing furnace by reacting raw material mainly having the sulfide concentrate containing the zinc, flux and, if necessary, auxiliary fuel, with any one among industrial oxygen, oxygen- enriched air or the air to produce zinc oxide and melting the zinc oxide into the slag, m.p. of the slag in this furnace is assumed with slag composition, and the slag temp. near the furnace bottom is made higher than this assumed m.p. and the slag temp. at surface layer part is made to be 1300°C, thus the distributing ratio of zinc into the slag is improved and buildup in the furnace bottom is prevented.
