Abstract:

To reduce the waste of toner in an image forming apparatus by stably preventing a latent image forming when controlling the light output of a light source with an inexpensive structure.

In the method of optical scanning in the image forming apparatus, photoreceptors 2a, 2b, 2c and 2d are scanned with laser beams emitted from a semiconductor laser which is a light source and deflected by using a deflector 22, and images are formed. A coarse output control of the light source is performed when a power supply for image forming is turned on, the deflection and the scanning with the deflector 22 are continued for a predetermined time after the image formation is completed, and a fine output control of the light source is continued for a predetermined time.
