Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively construct a novel catalyst system that has improved catalytic activity (increase in turn-over number) and high conversion of alkanes to crown ethers by oxidizing alkanes in the presence of a copper/crown ether catalyst or a copper/crown ether/inorganic salt catalyst.
SOLUTION: This method of oxidizing alkane or cycloalkane with molecular oxygen is characterized by oxidizing an alkane or cycloalkane with molecular oxygen in the presence of an aldehyde, a copper catalyst and a nitrogen- containing compound.
