To provide a deviation angle spectral reflectance predicting method for a colored object capable of predicting an actual color of the colored object in each direction, when the actual colors of the colored object containing an organic pigment are observed from different observation directions.
A refractive index of the organic pigment is calculated by a molecular composition of the organic pigment and a molecular orbital calculation, and a molar absorptivity of the organic pigment is calculated based on an electron excited state obtained by the molecular orbital calculation of the molecular composition, and pursuant to a molar absorptivity calculation expression. An absorption coefficient of the colored object is calculated, and a scattering coefficient of the colored object is calculated using the refractive index of the organic pigment, a refractive index of a transparent medium, the absorption coefficient of the colored object, a particle size of the organic pigment, and a Mie scattering theory. A phase function indicating a scattering distribution of light is calculated when the light gets incident into the colored object. A deviation angle spectral reflectance of the colored object in the each direction when the colored object is observed form the different observation directions is calculated by a multiflux theory, using the calculated various values and the like.
