Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a slab having extremely superior surface properties by adding prescribed percentages of Ti and N to a steel contg. prescribed percentages of C, Si, Mn, Nb and V.

CONSTITUTION: A steel contg., by weight, ≤0.3% C, ≤0.5% Si, 0.5W2% Mn, ≤0.05% Nb and ≤0.08% V is manufactured by melting and refining. Ti and ≤0.005% N are added to the molten steel so as to satisfy formulae Ti×N=(0.5W10)×10-9 and Ti/N=1.5W10. The resulting molten steel is cast.
